Conor in the Big Apple

Recently our pal Conor transported himself to N.Y. for a while, but the dude is still doing his visions. Maybe instead of trees it's buildings though. He recently posted another one of of his ill digital shorts on his Facebook. So if you don't got him as your friend well you won't be able to view this masterpiece. Anyway this one is my favorites so far. For 1 he's skating Flushings in Queens. (That's the home of the Mets btw. I know they sucked this year. Maybe the Jets will hold it down.) For 2 he jogged my past memories by using Peach Fuzz by KMD. So sick I had to post it. Maybe the dude will post it on youtube or something soon.

Solitary Arts

My friend Yong-Ki who used to skate with Kenny and I a long time ago has set up a donation fund on his site Solitary Arts. Check the right hand side of the screen. All the proceeds will go to help Kenneth's medical expenses. Mahalos.

Here's your ad Chad

I was talking to Chad and he wanted an idea for an ad. So here you go. Just put your logo somewhere. This was an old photo I took of Chane, Rob and Shane. This was moving day at their old pad near UH circa 1997. Rob's Shaolin shirt is awesome.

Take me way back!

Okay work has actually been kicking my ass this week. I come home and don't want to do shit. But since I haven't posted anything I guess I better. Recently my homie Nos who I grew up skating with sent me some flix via facebook. So if you aren't my friend on fb you wouldn't be seeing them. I know fb is lame. Kind of, but I got to reunite with some of my peeps that I haven't seen for years. Okay enough trying to justify it. This is a photo of my at our old stomping grounds Highlands Intermediate in the PC. 80's were about lauch ramps and street plants brah. Releasing the stalefish.

Backpacks anyone?

Have you visited the old hi-rolling site recently? If you did you may have noticed a wacky backpacking site. What is it suppose to be? Some backpack that has wheels so you can roll while you're climbing Mt. Everest? I guess maybe I should have renewed it.

Hi-Vibes

Larry's tomodachi from Japan finished day 5 up in the North Shore. Straight rippin' from Lucas, Harts and The Skate Nazi himself. Then appearances from Jay Adams, Joel Tudor and Craig Stecyk. What! My favorite episode so far.

D. Lee picks his nose

One interview we were suppose to do when we had the site was with our good buddy Darin Lee. We never got a chance. When he lived in SF he wouldn't answer calls or emails. We heard he lived with like 5 other dudes and he choose to use the closet as his bedroom. Well he's back in Hawaii now and we don't got the site anymore.

Dolphin Tanks a lot Mr. Police Ossifer

I've been slacking so I thought I'd post some old photos I shot. So here's our friend the Skate Nazi getting up at the Dolphin Tanks while Shane holds me flash. I love this place and you know why? Here is where our friendly neighborhood police man choked me down to the ground onto the nice sharp coral reef.

Hi-Rolling Memory

If you have recently tried to visit the Hi-Rolling website you would see that it no longer exist. Because of the downed economy coupled with my lazyness I have decided not to do the site any longer. A big mahalo to everyone who has contributed throughout the years. Maybe one day I'll bring it back. I'll try to continue to do this blog.

Give Thanks to Jef

The Skate Nazi already wrote about this board on his blog a little while back. Jef hand delivered this beauty the other day to me with a custom paint job on the top. Fuckin' stoked. It's going straight to the wall. Looking at this shape though it makes me want to ride it. It's 8.5 at its widest point but looking at it probably rides more like an 8 incher. If Chad at APB gets this in I may have to pick one up to ride. Sick graphics, sick shape.

Jason Jesee X RHPS

Now what we have here is the Jason Jessee guest "haole boy model" by your favorite dudes at Royal Hawaiian Pool Service. The artwork was done by JT (John Thomas not Jamie) OG Alva tuckneer. If you didn't know this is a parody of the original King Neptune done by Santa Cruz artist Jim Phillips where he Xeroxed the tattoo off of JJ's back originally done by Mark Mahoney.

There is a lot going on in the drawing but a few things that you can spot is that the King got old and fat, he's flippin' the bird and sporting a lava lava. There is also an eel about to eat Nemo. Get one hotdog on the Kings spear as well as some humu humu's swimming around. This thing is awesome and I shant dare ride this piece.

Hot for APB

This was one of two boards that APB initially made when they started the store. The other was the logo board which was white. I pitched the idea to Chad about Eddie Van Halen's guitar from the 80's and lucky for me he went for it. Must not be to many of these gems out there left. Shit Chad don't even got one. Come on bro. It's got to be worth trillions! Anyway I'm greatful that he gave me the oportunity to do this board so I can grab it every now and then and play air guitar.

Lone Wolf

Julien Stranger Anti-Hero model.
Anti-Hero likes to use the wolf as sort of a moniker for Julien. (Cards always has an eagle.) I guess it fits Julien well since he has always been kind of an anomaly. Always one of my favorites though and any footage of him is golden. This graphic is one of the sicker one's that I've seen. I hold out hope that one day the SMA syringe model will fall in my lap.

Jason Jessee Krooked Guest Model

There have been a lot of guest models that Krooked has done in the past but Gonz +Jason Jessee = awesomeness. I prefer the graphics on JJ's Driven model that Gonz did for him and if there is one out ther floating around that someone would like to part with give me buzz. This is one cool too though and it was limited to 200 decks. It came in a popsicle shape as well but why would I want that one?

Gonz Musashi Deck

Okay this one is one of my all time favorites. It's a Krooked Gonz Musashi deck. Miyamoto Musashi was an master swordsman in Japan from the 1600's. I'm not going to give you a history lesson here but just the mere fact that Gonz knew who Musashi was gives me that much more respect for him. In the drawing Musashi is depicted doing what is known as "Happo Biraki" or open on all 8 sides. Above Musashi it says Background music by Tom Waits, "I'm Big in Japan". Fucking ill.

Bo Ikeda RHPS

I'm pretty sure you may have seen this board before but I wanted to comment a little about it. It's a guest model from the dudes at Royal Hawaiian Pool Service. The funny thing about this is that I talked to Bo about it (yeah I know name dropping again) and he confirmed that this cat graphic was never one of his original board graphics. After thinking about it I don't remember seeing in on a board. He said it was only stickers and ads in magazines. I remember the graphics of his Vision decks like that rocket one and the other one which was a poem that if you took the first letter from each word it spelt "I fingerbanged your mom." He said the dudes at Vision initially didn't know, but when they figured it out they pulled the plug on it. He said one of his roomates at the time created the poem.

I think Bo got short changed when it came to graphics. I mean I think it sucked that when he was about to turn pro for Hosoi they parted ways with Santa Cruz and went to start Tuff Skates with Vision. I remember seeing in magazines his Santa Cruz graphics that Jim Phillips drew. I think it was of a donkey sitting on an 8 ball but the 8 said Bo instead. It would have been fucking sick. I think a lot of boards could have been sold. Then he went over to Vision which to me was not nearly on the same page as Santa Cruz when it came to graphics.

Anyway this is a sick board and it's funny that it says disappear-reappear because the Hosoi board previous to this one said appear-reapper. However this Bo board came out in 2007 and the Hosoi deck just came out this year. Both of them refering to the stellar comebacks that they made in skateboarding. The Zatoichi reference is that to an old tv show of a blind man who on the surface seems harmless, but could slice you up in an instant with his sword skills.

Hosoi/Gonz Collab

I was just talking to Jef Hartsel (Yeah I know I'm name dropping fuck off) about this board the other day. By the way Jef just got a guest model from Element which will be releasing soon. Anyway it got me thinking that I should post some of my boards that are sitting in my closet or hanging on my wall. I'm not a huge board collector by any means, but I will shell out my funds if I dig the dude who's board it is and/or the graphic itself is sick. When I saw this board I just had to get it. First of all it's Hosoi. I mean come on. I don't need to explain shit. Second it's graphics by the Gonz. Do I need to go further? Okay I will. If you look at the graphics on this board you'll notice the obvious Rising Sun in the background but below where it says appear, reappear it's the old Alva graphics in black. Also the shape is similar to that old fish shape from his old Alva board. So Jef said to him looks more like an Alva board and I have to agree. Fitting since the both Hosoi and Gonz rode for Alva. If you didn't know Hartsel did too. All this and it's a silk screened board not that heat transfer shit. Oh yeah Jef I'll be waiting for that Element deck.

October In February.

That's right, here's some shit from last October.
Four months behind is right on schedule for this piece though, so chill.

One day we went to Zones.

It's a jungle out there.

I learned my first transition tricks on this slab.

Reilly on some rust bucket shit.

Rusty and crusty.

Fucked with the hip a little.

Take it to the baby side.

Tunnel of love.

Tunnel vision.

Ass shot!

My boy Ken can skurrt that cane!

Looks like something ran over the waves of your leg.

Broke out from the ditch scene to the downtown sector.

This is my city.

This is me not paying attention to a dumb fucking sign.

This is a Pepto-Bismol colored Navigator outside of Happyworld, and it's spectacular.

There was a Gravis demo at the park.

Tim was straight mesmerized by the sheer sexiness that is Dylan Rieder.

Javier Mendizabal back tailed the steep QP but really, all eyes were on Dylan's provocative Flashdance shirt.

OMG, haven't you heard? Bare shoulders. So hot right now.

Gravis/Analog chief Mark Oblow and the Blaze been boys since way back.

Product toss, blah blah blah.

Arto and this dude set up a photo on the lip.

They got it.

This kid was like "AHHHHHTO, AHHHTO, wake up! Let's go skate!" Nah, he wasn't but that would have been so good.

Hartsel got busted cross-training.

There's more October coming in part 2, whenever that is.
